2015 GEM Grad Lab at Drexel University

Drexel University and University of Pennsylvania, October 17, 2015

During a crisp fall weekend, underrepresented students in STEM (Science, Technology. Engineering and Mathematics) came from near and far to participate in a crash course of sorts for the world of graduate education. Students were privy to comprehensive information about the number of opportunities that come with a graduate education, methods and best practices for applying and even fellowships that completely fund a graduate education, eliminating financial burden. They got to visit some graduate labs at Drexel University and University of Pennsylvania to gain further exposure to the facilities and research work available to students at a graduate level. Students also had the opportunity to participate in the Graduate Fair which took place immediately after an eventful day and a half of seminars and workshops.

The event was organized by the National GEM Consortium and Philadelphia LSAMP with funding from the National Science Foundation and co-hosted by Drexel University, University of Delaware, University of Pittsburgh, University of Pennsylvania and Carnegie Mellon University.
